The Niagara Watershed Alliance, NWA, is sponsoring a rally at the Niagara Falls Storage Site, NFSS, on Saturday, May 22nd at 10:30 am.

  • If you are tired of the federal government turning a deaf ear to the concerns of residents and ignoring long-standing environmental conditions at the LOOW Site, please join us.
  • If you are angry that the Army Corps of Engineers no longer recognizes the established LOOW RAB, join us.
  • If you are outraged that our watershed and the Great Lakes continue to be at risk by the storage of radioactive and toxic wastes, join us.

The NWA is a non-partisan group of elected officials, public health and safety officials and concerned citizens formed to complement and support the efforts of existing groups and those committed to the protection of the Great Lakes and the Niagara Watershed.

Mayor Neil Riordan of the Village of Youngstown and Clyde Burmaster, Niagara County Legislator are co-chairs of the rally.  Please call 745-7790 if you would like more information or would like to volunteer.  Updates on the rally will be posted on this website regularly.

Dear Friends,

The US Army Corps of Engineers is in the process of making decisions on what to do with the hazardous and radioactive wastes stored in what was intended as a temporary containment cell at the Niagara Falls Storage Site, NFSS.  Despite the fact that these decisions will have long-term consequences to the health, safety, and economic well-being of residents and the Niagara Frontier, the Lake Ontario Ordnance Works Restoration Advisory Board, the LOOW RAB, is being denied official participation.  The LOOW RAB consists of talented, dedicated members appointed by local governments and stakeholders. Despite the knowledge and experience they can bring to the discussion and decision making process, the Corps has refused to recognize them, thus denying the community adequate and full representation.

Continuing and joining the efforts of the RAB, elected officials, and the many other individuals and groups who are seeking to secure recognition and full participation of the current LOOW RAB, the Niagara Watershed Alliance is sponsoring a protest rally on May 22nd at 10:30 at the entrance to the NFSS at 1397 Pletcher Road, Lewiston. As you have so many times in the past on environmental issues of concern to WNY, we ask that you attend the rally in support of our efforts.

Additional information can be found in the attached notice which appeared in the Lewiston Porter Sentinel on May 1, 2010 and at our website, www.had-e-nuff.com

Mayor Neil Riordan of the Village of Youngstown and Clyde Burmaster, a Niagara County Legislator are co-chairs of the rally.  I am assisting with the details and can be contacted at 745-7790 if anyone needs further information or has any questions.

Thank you.
